As the electioneering season closes in, here in Ogun State, the battles to oust the current Governor, Prince Dapo have started in earnest.
Newslife xtrays some of the gubernatorial aspirants from the political parties aspiring for the state’s number one seat.
Gov.Dapo Abiodun has also declared and gotten forms for his second term bid.

Otunba Deji Osinowo Adeleye, Social Democratic Party, SDP
Chief.Dr. Jackie Adunni Kassim – New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.
As at last count, ten Governorship aspirants have expressed interest for the Gubernatorial race.
From the ruling All Progressives Party, APC, four aspirants have obtained the forms to battle the sitting Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun in the Party Governorship Primary election.
Modele Sharafa Yusuf, a former Special Adviser to the Governor, is also from the same town,Iperu with the sitting Governor.
Peoples Democratic Party has three aspirants jostling for the governship tickets of the party, while in the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Otunba Deji Osinowo Adeleye’s poster have been seen in places in Abeokuta Metropolis.
Action Alliance Congress, Hon Adeyemi Harrison has been flying his campaign on some online media.
In Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, who to many has been a strong Pillar behind the opposition party has held declaration rally, obtained forms and his posters are all around major towns in Ogun State.
Another Peoples Democratic Party Governorship hopeful, Otunba Jimi Lawal, popularly called JAL, aspired for the same seat in the 2019 polls on the platform of All Progressives Party but lost the ticket to Gov.Abiodun.
JAL, a British trained, banker and a lawyer has met the State PDP state executives, held Public declaration rally at Ake Palace and put up a would be campaign office in the Abeokuta Metropolis. He is seen as another strong contender to the party ticket and governship seat.
Former Spokesman of the Abubakar Atiku Presidential Campaign in the 2019 election, Segun Showunmi, who parades his slogan ” Sincerely set with bold ideas” was the first gubernatorial hopeful to set the the ball rolling in the bid for PDA’s seat from the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State.
Arc. Owodunni Opayemi, was said to have resigned his appointment as a board member of Wemabod, a conglomerate owned by the five South West states( excluding Lagos) picked his forms on 28th of April, 2022.
Opayemi had aspired for the Ogun East Senatorial seat in the 2019 polls. He is also from Ikenne,in Ikenne Local Government Area as well.
Others with ambition to oust Dapo Abiodun and govern Ogun state come 2023 are Hon.Abukabir Adekunle Akinlade, tripple A. A Governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement, APM, in the 2019 election, but now back into the APC fold, few days ago obtained the Expression of interest and Nomination forms of the APC for the governship Primary election..
Barrister Biyi Otegbeye from, Ilaro, Ogun West Senatorial District is also said to be aspiring for the seat on the platform of APC. He contested for the Ogun West Senatorial district’s seat on the platform of the Social Democratic Party in the 2015 polls. Popularly knowns as BOT, a lawyer and Insurance guru, is the Managing Director of Regency Alliance.
It has not yet been confirmed if he has obtained the forms.
Another female aspirant whose posters have now flooded the town is Chief Dr. Jackie Adunni Kassim of the New NIgeria People’s Party, NNPP.
A philanthropist, who studied modelling and fashion in London and New York, contested under the United Democratic Party, UDP in the 2019 polls for the governship seat.
