Cerebral Columnist and Lawyer, Dr. Festus Adedayo is a well known personality to the Late Alaafin, Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi,.

Accordimg to Dr..Adedayo, his incisive, thought provoking writings in Flickers of the Nigerian Tribune had endeared the revered monarch to him and within a shortest time the relationship became cemented.

When Dr. Adedayo concluded the 537- page hagiography book, AYINLA OMOWURA:Life and Times of an Apala Legend, Iku BaBa yeye was among the first receivers via royal presentation in Alaafin’s Palace.

During the formal presentation of the ,book to the Late Revered monarch, he commended the good work done by the author, revealing that the moment he opened the book, he could not put it down and within 24 hours he digested the whole content.

Alaafin, no doubt was an avid reader, imbued with oratory prowess, an articulate recollector of events of all spheres with time and dates to wit.,

When I heard this news, as an Egba stock and a lead researcher of the book( all thanks to my late friend and brother, Waheed Ganiu, a passionate lover of Ayinla Omowura’s music, one of the key instigators of the book and co lead researcher who recommended me to Dr.Adedayo) May Allah in infinite mercies grant his soul eternall rest,. I chanllenged our Principal on the need for such a royal presentation to our own Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, I regaled that the Late Apala maestro was ours in Egbaland, Abeokuta, Ogun State. The Task to get it done was given to me as a well written letters accompanied with three copies of the freshly minted books(cream colour) were sent to me from Ibadan: One copy and a letter to Kabiyesi, same addressed to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and to the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly.

kabiyesi, Oba Aremu Gbadebo was the only one who replied and welcomed the royal presentation at Aafin Ake and purchased a sizeable number of the books. While both the Speaker of the OGHA, Rt.Hon.Olakunle Oluomo and Gov.Dapo Abiodun didn’t reply to the letters for reasons best known to them.

I have not been to Old Oyo, or the new Oyo Alaafin, nor had a close encounter with the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi , Iku baba yeye , alowololodu bi ti iyere during his lifetime, the least I ve had was to listen to him when he addressed the gathering during the African Drum Festival held at the Open ground behind Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, years back.

The least close contact I had with him literally before his demise yesterday,, was for the revered traditional ruler to have read my contributions , my brief profile and to have seen my picture at the back of the book.

Adieu, Kabiyesi Oba Adeyemi Lamidi,, Adeyemi Oba, Baba Oba, Alowololodu bi ti iyere . May your soul rest in Kinship perfect peace.
