Ahead of the 2023 elections, An Ogun Peoples Democratic Party Governorship Aspirant, Otunba Jimi lawal has vowed to fight insecurity to a standstill if he emerges governor of the state in 2023.

The British trained lawyer and Banker made this vow on Thursday during the public declaration of his governship aspiration held at the AKe Palace Grounds , Abeokuta.

Otunba Lawal while addressing the gathering, stated that the level of kidnappings, armed robbery, and killings in the state in the last two to three years have escalated inimically, especially culltism and death recorded in some parts of the state.

“insecurity has been on the increase in Ogun State, not only robbery, culltism related killings at Sagamu, ijebu, Abeokuta and ilaro, Only the government has monopoly on the use of force, We will fight insecurity to standstill and by the grace of God, you will sleep with your eyes closed”

Speaking further on his agenda for the state, ” Ogun Vision 2023& Beyond” he said “Our Vision is centred around 5 programs: Economic, Human Capital,, Infrastructure, Security and Justice, Good Governance”

On economic development,,he promisesd to ensure sustainable growth on the producing sectors such as agriculture value addition, manufacturing and solid minerals, as well as the supporting sectors such as financial services and distribution of wealth that would enable access to social services, safety nets, and income tax policy.

” There is poverty and unemployment in the state, Our government will alleviate poverty. After Lagos Ogun should be the second in Nigeria, If we have good leadership”

harping on importance of education, Otunba Lawal pledged free and compulsory education to the secondary level for children between the ages of 6 – 18 years with payment of Waec and Jamb by the government.

In the health sector, the governship aspirant said that Primary Health centres in the state are lacking amenities, such as power and staff.he added that he would make them functional with provision of light and other essentials

The PDP governorship aspirant said further that his government would arrest any parent who allows the children to hawk during school hours.

He urged the the delegates of the party to allow sterling qualities to guide them during the primaries.” Let us vote for experience, character, and good qualifications. This is very important for us as a party to win the minds of the people.

Speaking earlier, the PDP Chairman in Ogun State, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele said the party is big enough to accommodate every eligible aspirant.

Ogundele stressed that the party would give level playing ground for all aspirants in the state to contest and achieve their aspirations.

The former lawmaker while castigating the APC government said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is confused, clueless and visionless in tackling the rising insecurity situation in the country.

He bemoaned that the ruling party, APC, has messed up Nigeria and put Nigerians in trauma.He urged the good citizens of the state to vote out APC come 2023.

Also speaking, PDP chairman in Oyo State, Dayo Ogungbenro, said PDP is the only party that can salvage the nation from its present challenges, imploring the people not to hesitate to return the party to power in Ogun.

Ogungbenro said “for instance everyone in Oyo State has already agreed that Engr. Seyi Makinde deserves another term because as a governor elected on the platform of PDP he has continued working for the good of the people, he prioritizes the welfare of the people unlike APC that is making life difficult for Nigerians. So, the people of Ogun State should also maximize the opportunity next year and vote in PDP to end this agonizing and traumatizing APC administration”
