Ogun State Governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, Otunba Jimi lawal has assured the good people of the state to make economic development his first priority if he emerges the governor in 2023.
He made this known on Saturday during his meeting with the State Party executive members and leaders at the PDP Secretariat in Abeokuta.
Outlining some of the economic development plans, he said that every of the 236 wards through the Community Development Councils would be awaken to set up businesses at each of the ward and government would provide the essentials for them
He added also that Youths and women would be treated specially, as part of ways to boost human capacity. development.
While speaking further to journalists , Lawal said, some of the infrastructure constructed through public funds by the last administration have been neglected by Governor Dapo Abiodun government in the state, citing examples of the Model College, he said” I am not saying they are right or wrong but certainly, it is criminal for weeds and bushes to take it over from us, if it their personal money they won’t allow it to be like that, to me this government is not responsible”.
He said “the purpose of my entire being is because I believe that the best way to worship God is to serve humanity, I prefer to serve humanity to the last breathe in me and I want to serve humanity by working as the governor of Ogun State to make life better and easier for all”.
He went further to say that “there are many examples that can be given, the first is the level of insecurity in the state, under Governor Daniel, there was a bit of insecurity, Governor Amosun came on board and we could all sleep with our two eyes closed, last couple of years, this security is bad, be it cultism, armed robbery or kidnapping, it is bad.
“Our state is bleeding, almost haemorrhaging to point of death. we need to save Ogun State, the wealth of my experience, qualifications and character are what I will deploy to make Ogun State better through the platform of Peoples Democratic Party.
“There is poverty in the land, people are jobless, all these thing need quick response as our state deserves better and we can do better”.
In his remarks, the PDP Chairman in Ogun State, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele said the party is open for all eligible aspirants to contest.
Ogundele said the party is more united and ready to wrestle power from the ruling APC as more defectors are coming into the folds of the party ahead of the 2023 elections.
