….Commissions developmental projects, seeks govt support for reconstruction of School road, Fence, upgrade and equiiping of science laboratories

In the quest to give back to their Alma- mater, Oke-Ona Grammar School Old Students Association, OGSOSA is set to commisson developmental projects in the school as part of activities to celebrate the 6OTh Anniversary of the School.

Addressing Journalists at the Press Conference held on Tuesday at Nuj Secretariat, Iwe-irohin, to herald the Celebrations, the Chairman of the 60th anniversary committee, Mrs Ganiyat Raji said” our citadel of learning has come a long way and now celebrating her 60th Anniversary. As part of the Celebration, some developmental projects have been earmarked for commissioning by the Old Students’ Association to give the needed information re and face lift including the rehabilitation of a block of 4 classrooms, supplying of books and reading materials to the school Library and upgrading the Laboratory.

‘The Theme is A Chronicle of Impact and Legacies’ which is meant to highlight the roles and contributions of our members in various areas of human endeavors and showcase the legacies of our founding fathers

“This is an opportunity for reunion of people long dispersed, who have been spared, kept alive, Hale and hearty”.

She also described the occasion cas an opportunity to appraise our individual contributors to the development of our Alma mater. We want the current students to learn the act of giving back to their Alma- mater in particular and the society in general, more importantly to show appreciation to the school for the solid foundation laid in years past”

Mrs Raji, while commending the efforts of the Prince Dapo Abiodun’s led administration in the state’s education sector, called for the government’s intervention towards reconstruction of the Akomoje road leading to the school, construction of the Perimeter fencing of the School to ward encroachment of the 72 heactarea of land donated by the founding fathers, Provision of Borehole, repair of electrical cables and poles and upgrading and equiiping of the school’s science laboratories.

In his contrbution, the Chief of Staff to Ogun State Governor, Alhaji Shuaibu Salisu, who is also an old student of the school, said that besides all the activities lined up to celebrate the anniversary, the coming together of all the old studenst, who had attained greatness in their various callings, is to use the platform as a source of motivation and inspiration to current students of the institution to be resolute in their academic pursuit as it is through this they can position themselves and attain greatness in life.

He noted that government alone could not provide all the needed infrastructure needed in schools, hence the need for Old students associations support the government in providing the basic needs of the school’s.

Salisu implored Old studenst in other schools to come up with developmental plan that would be of benefit to their alma maters.
