… introduces Durbar and Durbar competitions

All is set for the celebration of the 12th Edition of Gbagura Day as for the first time in the history of the Gbagura Nation and Egbaland, Durbar and Durbar competition will feature in the celebration

The Chairman of the MOC, Chief Semiu Oganla disclosed this to Journalists at a Press Conference held on Friday at the Agura Palace, Oke- Iddo, Abeokuta North Local Government area of the State.

“it is important to state here that this year Gbagura Day Celebration will honour and recognise lofty contributions of our immediate past Agura of Gbagura, Oba Halidu Olaloko,Sobekun ll, who initiated Gbagura Day Celebration in 2006. The Late Oba reigned for 38years and brought lots of unquantifiable growth and development to the Gbagura Nation and Egba at large.

“it is worthy of note that the father of the current Agura, Prince Rasaq Olayinka Bakre was the pioneer Chairman of the organising committee of the first Gbagura Day celebration.

“Hence, the Gbagura Nation has appointed the late Oba Dr. Halidu Olaloko,MFR, Shobekun II as Hero of this year Gbagura Day Celebration. We are going to honour him and his family with Work Procession to the Hilltop GRA, Oke-Mosan Residence of the late Oba Halidu Olaloko.

“for the first time in our history in Gbagura and the entire Egbaland, We are featuring Durbar and Durbar Competition which is the greatest innovation of the 12th Gbagura Day”.

Chief Oganla also disclosed that a Car Prize has been donated by Prince Adeola Olaloko as part of prizes for the durbar.

While appreciating the donor and Scion of the Olaloko family, the MOC Chairman said ” the entire Gbagura sons and daughters are proud of the contributions of the Olaloko family for the 12th Gbagura Day Celebration. They are the Gbagura hero worthy of emulation. He stated.

Reeling out the celebration’s schedule, chief Oganla said that on Monday 6th December, booming of Guns and drumming of Gbedu Drms at Oke- Iddo, Palace of Agura will herald the day. While Balogun Work, Hon. Wasiu Oluomo will lead all Gbagura Sons and Daughters to the home of the hero of the year, Late Oba Halidu Adedayo Olaloko at the Presidential Hilltop, GRA, Oke-Mosan.

Tuesday 7th December is slated for Medical Outreach at the Agura Palace. Wednesday 8th is for indoor games competitions among the 19 township, to Wednesday 8th through Friday 10th December, 2021

Jumat Service at Gbagura Central Mosque oke-Iddo 1pm- 2pm on Friday 10th December, 2021, while Award and Gala Night comes up same day at the Millennium Hall of Abeokuta Club, Oke-ilewo, Abeokuta by 6pm

Also, Saturday 11th December, 2021 will witness the conferment of Chieftancy titles on Worthy personalities at the Agura Palace by the Agura of Gbagura land, Oba Saburee Bakree, starting from 9am. while the Grand Finale and the Day Celebration with the theme” Festival of A New beginning” to be chaired by the Osi Bobagunwa of Egbaland and Leragun o Ikaa, Gbagura, Chief Saheed Adeyemi Lawal will start at noon.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun is the Guest of Honour, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo as Royal father of the day while Olori Ayangbunrin of Ikorodu Kingdom, Amb. OLAYINKA Oyefusi will be the Royal Mother of the Day. The Agura of Gbagura, is the grand host.

the Celebration comes to an end on Sunday 12th, December, 2021 with Thanksgiving Service at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Ago- Ika, Gbagura, Abeokuta by 10am.
