The Eze udo of Owode,, Ifekowajo, HrH Ignatius uzorigwe has expressed gratitude to God, Ndigbo and entire People of Owode-Yewa for their unflinching support which saw him becoming the igbo monarch in the community..
Ezeudo uzorigwe said this during the Thanksgiving and NewYam festival vceremony held on Friday, 27th November, 2021 at Owode Town Hall, to mark his coronation.
The new Ezeudo was crowned by the Eze Ndigbo of Ogun State, Eze Willy.O. Ejimnkonye (Igbo 1) recently at the Eze’s Palace, Agosi in Ifo Local Government area of Ogun State.
While expressing gratitude, Ezeudo Uzorigwe said” I praise and give thanks to Almighty God, King of Kings. My utmost appreciation to the entire Igbo Community, the traditional ruler of Owode and the council,Local Government authority and entire people of this noble town for their unflinching support that enabled my being crowned
“I reiterate my resovle that I will not take your support for granted. The unity of all igbos in Owode and Ogun State in general should be uppermost to all us.Let us be one indivisible entity and continue to live in harmony with our host community”.
In his address, the Olu of Owode-Yewa, Oba Mathew Sunday Akindele while thanking the Ndigbo in owode yewa.the Monarch said” In the history of the development of this town, the positive roles of the igbos cannot be forgotten.
” This ceremony is a complete one as the Special Assistant on ethnic Affairs to our amiable Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Chief Monday Chuckwudi is in our midst. Government is here with us. Congratulations Ezeudo Ignatius Uzorigwe.
” Ezeudo Uzorigwe has been living in this Owode for the past fifty years and has been an instrument of peace, progress and development of this town for years.
” He was installed by my predcessor as the leader of Igbo in Owode 18 years ago, We thanked God for his life and what we have seen him doing in Owode’
While rounding up his address Oba Akindele announced the renewal of the chieftancy title bestowed on the Eze udo years back, aa this threw the hall into jubilation.
In their separate remarks, the Igwe of Agbaja Umuenba, Enugui State, Eze Chuckuemeka Ugunta, Ezeudo Ndigbo of Atan/iju/ilogbo, Eze Edward Ofelo, Legal Adviser, Ohaneze South West, Barr. G.O.D Okeke and the Special Adviser on Ethnic Affairs, Chief Monday Chuckwudi described the new Ezeudo as a good man that had been in the forefront of philanthropism and we’ll being of people. They added that ” He is a king ordained by God and one that will discharge the responsibility very well”
Also at the ceremony were all the Chiefs and Baales of Owode-Yewa, PCRC members, members of the hausa community, Representatives of the Local Government Chairman, Divisional Police Officer, Owode Police Station, ASP Olabisi among other dignitaries.
Highlights of the ceremony were Praise and Worship, dance and cultural display by Igbo women grups, presentations of certificates to the new Ezeudo and cutting of the new year.
