The All Progressives Congress has been declared as the winner of all the 20 local government Chairmanship seats in Saturday’s LG polls in Ogun State.
The Chairman of Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) , Mr Babatunde Osibodu, had earlier on Sunday morning announced 17 of the results.
The remaining three results and winners were announced around 2:30pm.
Osibodu, while giving the details of the three results said” At Ado-Odo Accord Party got 43 votes, APC scored 73, 727 votes, PDP had 2,618 votes, with 76,388 as total number of valid votes,1622 recorded as invalid votes and 78,010 as total number of all cast votes.. In Abeokuta South, APC got 25,611 votes, PDP garnered 103 votes, SDP had 853 while ZLP polled 49 votes. Total number of valid vote was 26,615 , with no invalid vote, and 26,615 as total number of votes cast.. For Odeda LG, AAC got 45 votes, APC scored 12,466 votes, NNPP 234 votes, PDP had 657 votes, ZLP 09 votes. Total number’ of valid votes was 13,411, Invalid 126 while total number of votes cast was 13,537″. He added that the total number of votes cast in the chairmanship elections in the 20 local government areas in the state was 396, 641.
“I want to say that APC won all the chairmanship seat in the 20 local government areas in the state, ” he said.
He said that results of the elections into all the 236 councillorship positions in the state would be released the moment the collations are done.
The OGSIEC chairman, who expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the people and the role the political parties played during the elections , said that the peaceful conduct made the election a success.
Osibodu also commended the law enforcement agencies for the role played in the success of the elections, adding that the winners should see the contest as no victor nor vanquished one.
