The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS,Ogun Joint campus committee has warned Politicians in the state not instigate students protest that could disrupt the peace being enjoyed in the state.

The Chairman of the body, Comrade Damilola Kehinde gave the warning recently at a Press Conference held at NUJ secreretariat, Iwe-irohin, Abeokuta.

Kehinde while briefing Journalists said that the leadership of the body has noticed that some unscrupulous elements who calls themselves Students Union leaders in collaboration with some politicians are planning to carry out nefarious attacks in some areas of the state.

The Student leader alleged that One Adeyemi Samaon Ajasa, who paraded himself around as a factional Chairman of NANS Ogun JJC was being sponsored by some prominent Political office holders and top University Vice chancellor in the state to cause mayhem and disrupt the peace the good people of Ogun State have been enjoying for the past two years.

Narrating the genesis of the situation , he said “Adeyemi Samson ajasa, who has been parading himself as NANS Ogun Chairman for months and defrauding unsuspecting members of the public, was arrested with guns in his possession. He was later handed over to Police for investigation

“But, the Commissioner of Police and the State Director of Department of State Security Service(DSS) later called for a meeting between the group of Ajasa and my Exco to resolve the lingering crisis in Ogun NANS amicably

“After several hours of the meeting, the issue was resolved with a warning to Ajasa and his cohorts to stop parading themselves around as NANS leadership and to desist from any action that could breach the peace of the state

“following the outcome of the meeting, a joint press conference was addressed by my humble self and the SUG President of OOU, who led Ajasa group where we both resolved to work together for the peace, development and prosperity of all Ogun State Students and the state in general

” It was however, surprising and disturbing to hear that, less than 24 hours after the meeting and the press conference, Ajasa group reneged on the promise and threatened to unleash terror on the people of the state

” we want to state categorically that, this act is nothing but a criminal act that is targeted at destabilising the peace of the state

“We therefore, want to use this medium to call Ogun State Police Command, the Department of State Security Service,DSS and other security agencies to be on alert and go after the unscrupulous elements, arrest and prosecute them”.

Comrade Kehinde, who allegedl that the Ajasa’s group had breached a peace agreement signed between the Police and DSS and had vowed to cause mayhem in the state under the pretence of the said protest, called on the police to immediately go after them and their sponsors before any harm would be done on the people of the state.
