Newbridge college, Obada-Oko has emerged the winner of this year Say it Right Mathematics competition organised by Kings Media Production.

At the quiz final held at the Mathematics Laboratory Hall of Omolaja Shodipo Memorial Anglican school, Onikolobo, Abeokuta,Ogun State capital, on Wednesday, the pair of Ijagbuji Ifeoluwa and Adeniyi from Newbridge college scored 20 points to clinch the first position, Adedosu Victor and Adeayo Pavi from Command Day Secondary School,Nyangoa Barracks Lafenwa, Abeokuta came second with 16 points while Bako Favour and Sobande Similoluwa of Omolaja Shodipo Memorial Anglican school, Onikolobo, scored 13 points to place third position in the over an hour tensed Mathematics quiz final.

Speaking at the event, the Olu of Agbamaya kingdom, Obafemi Owode,Oba Ismaila Rasaq Shokunbi commended the competitors for putting up brilliant performances within the shortest time allotted to answer each of the questions.

The monarch, who enjoined the competitors to see the quiz competition as further way to increase and deepen their knowledge of mathematics that is dreaded by most secondary school students, urged the participants to always apply fastness in answering maths questions during quiz competitions.

Oba Shokunbi advised the students to always be dutiful and be committed to their studies, adding that students from public schools could also do better as long they are studious, make essential subject such as Maths one of their priority subjects.

The royal father also implored the organizers and schools to use and integrate Yoruba language into teaching of mathematics.

The promoter of the competition,Mr. Tayo Ogunwole while congratulating the winner, enjoined the runners- up to see the results as no victor nor vanquished competition

” it is an atmosphere for unity and exposure, as we all needs each other. We are one.Every body is a winner and ambassador of the various schools” he said.

Ogunwole also expressed gratitude to the royal father for sponsoring the quiz competition despite the short notification.

The quiz was through a wide listenership radio programme that usually come on air every Saturday at 10:30 am on 97.1 Roots FM Abeokuta, anchored by the Promoter, Tayo Ogunwole a.k.a King Radio Boy.
