Former Governor of Ogun State and now the Lawmaker Representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Senator Ibikunle Amosun on Thursday pledged to follow through, the approved bill seeking the establishment of University of Medicine, Abeokuta to make sure President Muhammadu Buhari sign it into law.

The Senate had on Wednesday passed a bill seeking to establish the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences.

The approval followed the consideration of two separate reports by the Committee on Health (Secondary and Tertiary); and Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND.

The bill was introduced by the former Senator representing the senatorial district, Senator Lanre Tejuoso but was reintroduced by Amosun.

Amosu, while speaking in Abeokuta, the state capital, after the commissing of the GTB South-West training centre in Oke-Ilewo was of the assurance that the project will foster the development of the education sector.

He said “Concerning the federal medical university, I am just doing my job and I happy about it. I will follow it through to make sure Mr President sign into law. It’s not just about the school, it’s about the state and Nigeria.

The Lawmaker hinted that he was working assiduously to bring about the establishment of the training centres of other giant banks such as Access and First Banks in the state.

“I am happy the commissoning of this project. I have to thank God it’s happing in my life time. First bank and Access bank are also coming. I have called them several time to come and begin the projects.
