Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State on Tuesday called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to intervene in the coming local government election, demanding for the right candidate to represent the Local Government .
The protesters stormed the Ogun NUJ Secretariat, Okelewo, Abeokuta with other members of the party.
Protesters carried placards with inscriptions such as ‘We want man of the People, Tajhdeen Ishola is our man ,’We dont want Ayorinde, ‘We want Ishola,We love Our Governor,’ We want best for Abeokuta North too, ‘We support Tajhdeen Ishola,’We say no to Candidacy of Ayorinde,’We want TJ Ishola as Chairman.
You will recall that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Abeokuta North local government has shortlisted its list of eight Chairmanship aspirants to three. Among the three, Ayorinde emerged as the flag bearer ahead of the local government election.
Addressing newsmen, the Former Chairman of the Local government Alhaja Faidat Sarumi Akintunde appreciated the effort of the Governor and urged him to call whoever to call in Abeokuta north local government.
Sarumi maintained that Some Political leaders cannot sit down and said they don’t want somebody because of their selfish interest.
“We in Abeokuta North know that Tajudeen Ishola olamilekan he’s the one that have been taking care of us since four years ago and he’s the most popular candidate out of them in Abeokuta north local government and we stand by him.
“Some all of baba sit down in the house, saying because of somebody I hate Tajudeen Ishola is that the way they do politics?The Governor should look into our matter.
“We want the Governor to call on our Aspirants and to call some leaders so that we can dialogue” She said.
According to some of the protesters Babatunde Eniafe said the minority candidate is above the majority Candidate.
“The people of Abeokuta North local government on the candidate chosen by our amiable and knowledge governor that it as not being well with us.
“Our candidate in person of Engineer Tajudeen Olamilekan Ishola as the majority and these man has being standing by the party members right from the onset these man have to drop is ambition of Assembly for these Abeokuta North local government chairman also during Covid -19 we see him in all the problems the members have we see him there he stood by the party he made what he want for us,he is our leader a great leader a philanthropist, capitalist, economists so why is it now the time he want to eat from the fruit of his labour he was being denied it is not so.
“What we want the Governor to do is to call our candidate we are not against him by chosen Ayorinde we are not telling to reverse his case but what our governor want to do for our candidate Honourable Tajudeen Olamilekan Ishola to take good care of us.
“Ayorinde cannot take good care of us you can see the majority he cannot he is a minority against the majority and that is why we are here that our governor should call our candidate Engineer Tajudeen Ishola an have a dialogue with him and to let us know what he want to give to him to take good care of us.
Sanni Aliyu omosowon also said ” Tajudeen Olamilekan Ishola is the choice of the people of Abeokuta North local government and not Ayorinde”.
He added that the whole of Okeogun as being in support of Ishola from the beginning up to date.
“So we don’t know why the Governor as chosen Ayorinde as our chairman because he is not active in politics of Abeokuta North. Our mandate is Tajudeen Olamilekan Ishola” he submitted.
