FG SUSPENDS TWITTER OPERATIONS IN NIGERIA

The federal government has suspended indefinitely the Operations of the microblogging and social networking service in Nigeria.

The Minister of Information,Lai Mohammed announced the suspension in a statement m issued in a statement on Friday in Abuja.

Citing the persistent use of the platform for activities capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.

The Minister said the federal government has directed Nigeria Broadcasting Commission,NBC to immediately commence the process of licencing all OTT and Social media operation in Nigeria.

Twitter, early this week suspended the Twitter account of President Muhammad Buhari over a statement on PMB’s Twitter on South East security considered as a violation by the microblogging site.
