The Area Commander ,Ogun West of the Traffic And Compliance Enforcement Corps, TRACE, Commander Ajibade Adekunle has ascribed the volatability of Ogun West area in terms of traffic as one that has made him unsociable.

Adekunle, who said he rarely has time socialising as a result of the level of work to attend to at the axis, disclosed this during a brief chat with Newslife at the Area Command Office in Ota.

” I watch Television sometimes, but if I want to unwind I enjoy controlling traffic, being on the field, monitoring my operatives. That is the way I unwind’

On the efforts of the Area Command towards reducing incident of accident in the axis,, He said that the 24 hours manning team and having TRACE operatives in all nook and crannies of the axis, collaborations with sister agencies like FRSC, ARMY, NSCDC, NAVY, and series of sentisization programmes carried out in Parks and Garages, Tertiary institutions, Primary and Secondary Schools, and Companies with drivers through Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN, , road users and concerned stakeholders, to an extent have reduced the rate of accidents in the axis.

The Area Commander who commended the divisional commanders for their effective and efficient handling of their divisions, said their up and doing have been making his job easier.

Speaking on some of the chanllenges and memorable moments of the job, Commander Adekunle disclosed that the heady attitude of some articulated truck drivers violating one way traffic rules despite all entreaties still bothers him, adding that the Area Command won’t falter to always bring such offender to book.

He said that one of the unfogetable days on the job was the day he was controlling traffic at Owode ijako and got knocked down by an okada rider who drove against traffic.

” I was the divisional commander at Sango then, the lockdown was much and I decided to join them on the road. The okada rider drove against traffic, knocked me down and broke my leg in the process and the positive one was the day I was announced as the best traffic Officer in Ogun State” he stated.

The Ijebu Ode born traffic Officer who loves listening to the Music of King Sunny Ade, Commander Ebenezer Obey, Haruna Ishola among other oldies, also said he enjoys reading books on Management.
