Yoruba freedom fighter, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has said he would never disrespect elders, let alone traditional rulers in Yorubaland.
This is in response to some allegations that he said he would invade the palace of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Adeyemo said he should not be misquoted, as he would always respect elders and traditional rulers in the South-West region, because traditional rulers ought to be held in high esteem.
According to a statement by his Media Adviser, Mr. Dapo Salami, made available to journalists in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday,
“I, Sunday Igboho, would never disrespect anybody, elders, obas and traditional rulers.”
The statement further stated that it was not true that Adeyemo planned to invade the palace of Alake of Egbaland.
“Alake is my father and he is someone that I hold in high esteem. I can never attack my father, because he is one of the most important factors in Yoruba race. I believe that baba will give us the necessary support to achieve our desired agenda.
“Those people who read a lot of stories about me might not know that I am for the Yoruba people and for Nigeria,” he said, urging all and sundry to disregard any story that he would disrespect traditional rulers in the South-West.
He added that they were all fighting for the Yoruba nation, maintaining that the Alake of Egbaland is a father that deserves respect from all Yoruba
