Sporadic shooting rocked the venue of election of the National Association of Nigerian Students where Sunday Dare Asefon emerged as the new President of the Students’ body.

The election which took place on Thursday , 3 of December, 2020 at the Old Parade Ground, Area 10 Garki in Abuja was said to have been married with violence as alleged cultists brought to the convention engaged operatives of the Department of State Security, DSS in a shoot-out.

The new President, aged 35years, is a Diploma (PGD) student of the Ekiti State University,(EKSU), Ado-Ekiti.

A former Cordinator of the Zone D of the Association, Afeson polled 155 votes to defeat his other contestants in the poll which was reportedly marred with violence and alleged vote buying.

In a viral video sighted by NEWSLIFE, a man recording the incident was shouting” No be banger! No be banger!! NANS Convention No be for small Pikin”! Scores of Students were also seen running helter skelter for their lives in the video.

It was also gathered that the outgoing Public Relations Officer of NANS, who is also a Special Assistant on Students matters to Ogun state Governor, Azeez Adeyemi was reportedly arrrested in the process with catridges and ammunitions.
