POLICE, ROBBERS’ GUN BATTLE CLAIMS ONE LIFE IN OGUN

Men of the Ogun State Police Command in the early hours of Monday 9th, November 2020 engaged armed robbers in a serious exchange of fire , leaving one of the gang dead even as other escaped with gun shot injuries.

The Ogun State Police Spokeman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement said the armed robbers had blocked road along Olabiro street in ikenne and dispossessing people of their valuables at gun point.

He further disclosed that the Ikenne divisional headquarters received a distress call at about 5am, which prompted the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Noukauba Onuma to quickly mobilised his men to the scene.

On sighting the policemen, it was revealed that the hoodlums engaged them in gun battle which lasted for about 30 minutes at the end of which one of the hoodlums was shot dead while others escaped with various degree of gun shot injuries

One cut to size locally made gun, one live cartridge and one expended cartridge were recovered from the dead robber.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun has praised his men for their display of gallantry.

He therefore warned that this should be a warning signal to any would be criminal who are deluding themselves that police are not working again to have a rethink as the command will go to any length in protecting the good people of Ogun state.

He also directed that the fleeing members of the gang be hunted for and brought to justice within the shortest possible time
